My House Of Metal

I recently moved and it has become my mission to fill my house with METAL! It can be really hard to find things that I like.. Meh! I decided to start making bits and pieces for my new home that suit my personality. I will update my mission on my blog and hopefully inspire you all to do the same :)

I did this cross stitch for my new flat!

Patch Art

Do you have lots of patches hanging around or packed away? Have you run out of  room on your denim jacket? Do you wish you could display you patches in a cool creative way? I have a great, easy way to display your patches on your wall, which is cheap and a great fun project to do over the weekend.

Materials

Canvas or a wooden frame
Enough denim or old jeans to cover the canvas
Patches
Thread
Studs or any other decoration you want
Staple gun with staples
Sewing machine
Pins

1. Take your denim or jeans, I used two different shades of denim as I wanted it to stand out. Arrange the denim and pin it as a guide to where you will sew. Sew the denim together to make a large enough piece to cover your canvas.

2. Arrange and pin on your patches and when you're happy stitch them onto the denim.

3. On your sewing machine you have a variety of stitches. Why not use these to add some texture to your canvas by spontaneously stitching over your denim and patches?

4. Take your studs or other flourishes and customize your denim with your bits and bobs! Another great way to add rough texture to the fabric is to take a cheese grater to the denim and rub it until it changes in texture.

5. Finally, take your staple gun and stretch over the denim, staple the fabric on the back until the fabric is stretched over tight. Why not staple onto the front of the fabric for extra metalness \m/

I hope this simple tutorial helps make your home more metal!
