My House Of Metal

I recently moved and it has become my mission to fill my house with METAL! It can be really hard to find things that I like.. Meh! I decided to start making bits and pieces for my new home that suit my personality. I will update my mission on my blog and hopefully inspire you all to do the same :)

Patch Art

Do you have lots of patches hanging around or packed away? Have you run out of  room on your denim jacket? Do you wish you could display you patches in a cool creative way? I have a great, easy way to display your patches on your wall, which is cheap and a great fun project to do over the weekend.

Materials

Canvas or a wooden frame
Enough denim or old jeans to cover the canvas
Patches
Thread
Studs or any other decoration you want
Staple gun with staples
Sewing machine
Pins

1. Take your denim or jeans, I used two different shades of denim as I wanted it to stand out. Arrange the denim and pin it as a guide to where you will sew. Sew the denim together to make a large enough piece to cover your canvas.

2. Arrange and pin on your patches and when you're happy stitch them onto the denim.

3. On your sewing machine you have a variety of stitches. Why not use these to add some texture to your canvas by spontaneously stitching over your denim and patches?

4. Take your studs or other flourishes and customize your denim with your bits and bobs! Another great way to add rough texture to the fabric is to take a cheese grater to the denim and rub it until it changes in texture.

5. Finally, take your staple gun and stretch over the denim, staple the fabric on the back until the fabric is stretched over tight. Why not staple onto the front of the fabric for extra metalness \m/

I hope this simple tutorial helps make your home more metal!

Scion A/V free Crusher ten
Wrapped up and re-gifted to loved ones and friends
Remember it’s the thought that counts

5. NO PRESENTS THIS YEAR
No presents from Scion this year, just regrets
And this holiday issue of Decibel w/the ANb flex

6. WITH A SNIFF AND A WINK
Dilated eyes, rosy red cheeks
He put a finger to the side of his nose
Up his chimney it rose
With a sniff and a wink

All he’d get for Christmas was a carton of cigarettes
These days that would be an expensive gift for a kid

Shepherd their flock of sheep
To god city to be forever “Entombed”

Devin The Crazy Awesome Townsend!

Devin Townsend has announced an epic crazy show at the London roundhouse! The Retinal Circus will take place in London at the Roundhouse on October 27, 2012! Tickets go on sale on Friday 18th November (today) via the HevyDevy.com webisite.

Devin released this press release:

"This last week was probably THE defining moment in my life, let alone my career in many ways. I’ve had some intense gigs and experiences in music before, but all pale in comparison to the 4 sold out shows in London where we played all four DTP records, with four different bands, night after night.Everyone worked incredibly hard, and each of us gave 100% to pull it off, bands, players, management, label, and audience. It was awesome!
So here’s the next big gig: Next October 27th, at the amazing Roundhouse in London, We’re putting on the most definitive ‘Devin’ show to date. A culmination of my ENTIRE career with a star line up and full supporting cast.
The show is being called ‘The Retinal Circus’, (named after an old Vancouver club in the 60’s, famous for psychedelic rock shows) and will be more than just a musical performance… there will be an art exhibition, actors, Ziltoid, stilt walkers, fire breathers…you name it. My goal has always been to make SHOWS, and this is the first opportunity I have been given to do a high-end production that puts it all together! It’s the closest Saturday to Halloween, and the goal is to make something amazing that we can all enjoy…details to come…psychedelic!
My career has been full of amazing musicians, and there will be plenty of them present at this show, and I’ll be playing music that has never been attempted due to the size of the songs and the need for certain things.
It will be recorded for a DVD of course, and it’s going to be a pretty intense experience… we have a year to make it perfect, so I just wanted to give you some hints! The VIP package will be available with special goodies among other exclusive things.
Anyways, I’m back to work here…I hope to see you there, I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity, we’re not taking it lightly!"

50 VIP tickets will be made available. The content for the VIP package may change leading up to the date but for now it includes:

* Meet-and-greet with the full band
-Early entry to the show to get the best seats (might change to reserved seating; to be confirmed)
* Tour of the venue showing the production and everything else that goes with it.
* Have your picture taken with Devin and/or band by a professional photographer.
* High-quality Devin Townsend bag containing:
* VIP laminate and lanyard
* Exclusive VIP t-shirt
*Exclusive VIP tour poster printed on canvas
* Additional goodies confirmed though exact specs to be confirmed

I Feel So Behind!

Man! I feel seriously behind! This week Vinyl, Reviews, Blackstorm and the mighty Gruesome Stuff Relish! I am writing the interviews now, if you have any questions for the bands just comment below and I will add them to my list!

Ahhhh News

I don't care about Black Sabbath. Big Whoop! Been done before. Done.. Next..

Do we care about Courtney Love?

I think this video proves she needs help. I mean any normal person would be grateful for a fan loving her music and her late husband. The Foo Fighters are not gay Courtney. This video is the most annoying thing I have ever seen and I would probably say it to her scrawny face. I AM NOT ADDING THE ONE OF HER BREASTS! EUGHH!
